Brown?s University an education in beer

TROY ? Brown?s Brewing is going Ivy League, sort of. ?Brown?s University Beer 101,? a symposium on all things beer, is scheduled for the brewer?s Revolution Hall event space next Wednesday, January 11.

Brown?s is billing the event as ?Everything (almost*) that you wanted to know about beer. ? (A) fun entry level practicum for the beer novice.?

The 6 p.m. symposium will include:

? The Anatomy of Beer: A discussion on the ingredients of beer and the differences between lagers and ales. The student will taste and smell the raw ingredients of beer and gain an understanding of how they distinguish the many different beer styles.

? The Brewing Process: An overview of how beer becomes beer, from grain to glass.

? The History of Beer: The ancient origins of beer and how it has evolved, devolved and evolved again.

? The Business of Beer: A discussion of how the wholesale beer trade works.

? Beer Tasting: A sampling of Brown?s ales and lagers.

Admission, which includes samples and snack, is $45 per person, $40 for Mug Club members. Tickets are available at Brown?s host desk or online.
