Interesting Stats on Foreign Activities by Canadian Charities - Blog ...

I took a look at the T3010 Registered Charity Information Return statistics on foreign activities by Canadian charities for 2010.? The total 2010 amount identified by all charities including gifts-in-kind (GIK) is almost $2.7 billion.? 299 charities spent more than $1 million outside of Canada.? 5355 charities identified spending some amount outside of Canada.? Some of the top GIK numbers are scams and will reduce the total.? On the other hand the total will rise as a result of funds spents outside of Canada but as gifts to qualified donees which are not counted in these numbers.?

Line 1 and line 200: What were total expenditures on activities/programs/projects carried on outside Canada during the fiscal period, excluding gifts to qualified donees?? $2,682,936,886.00


Line 2 and Box 210: Were any of the charity?s resources provided for programs outside Canada under any kind of an arrangement including a contract, agency agreement, or joint venture to any other individual or entity (excluding gifts to qualified donees)? Yes or No ^? 2575 said yes.

Line 4 and Box 220: Are any projects undertaken outside Canada funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)? Yes or No ^? 273 said yes

Line 230: If yes, what was the total amount of funds expended under this arrangement? $^? ? ? $410,900,140.00

Line 5 and Box 240: Were any programs carried on outside Canada carried out by employees of the charity? Yes or No ^? ? 1355 said yes
Line 6 and Box 250: Were any programs carried on outside Canada carried out by volunteers of the charity? Yes or No ^? ? 2794 said yes
Line 7 and Box 260: Is the charity exporting goods as part of its charitable programs? Yes or No ^? 337 said yes
