NCAA reform: Create a legal market for player goods | University of ...

Last spring, CBS and Turner Sports reached an agreement with the NCAA to pay it around $11 billion over 14 years for sole broadcasting rights of the NCAA basketball tournament.

That?s almost a billion dollars every year.

There are similar big-money agreements in football, baseball and other sports that involve exclusive broadcasting rights in exchange for payment to the NCAA.

So while the NCAA has been whoring itself out to the likes of CBS, ESPN and Fox for millions and sometimes billions of dollars, it must be fine with its players attempting to make a buck off of their abilities while still in school, right?

I bet you can tell where this is going. the ?N-C-two-A? as it?s affectionately known by filmmaker Spike Lee, is notoriously terrified of the idea of its ?student-athletes? being corrupted by the influence of payment.

It has handed out fines, loss of post-season eligibility, and scholarships, and even the vacating of wins for schools deemed to have known about the bestowing of improper benefits to players of as little as $200.

What makes the association seem like the ?biggest pimps around? as Lee has called them, is that it has refused to consider the idea of switching to what?s known as ?the Olympic Model,? in which athletes are not allowed to be directly compensated by their institutions, but are free to pursue marketing deals with other parties.

Although this is by no means a perfect model to allow for the payment of players, it does provide a way to bring some money back to the players. You know, those 18 to 22-year-olds who sell out football stadiums in the fall and basketball arenas in March.

It doesn?t take any money away from the schools that may be struggling to fund smaller, non-revenue-generating sports in addition to the building of training facilities and stadiums.

Voltaire once said, ?Don?t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.? By advocating pure amateurism, the NCAA has created an avenue for boosters with deep pockets and loose morals to give their schools an advantage simply by providing the means for college athletes to live the high life in return for commitment over other schools.

By creating a legal market where a player could capitalize on his or her own marketability, the black market would be curbed while still maintaining an air of amateurism around college athletics.

Why You Should Work With REO Asset Management Companies ...

By utilizing REO asset management corporations to deal with your properties, you could take the worry of being a property owner away. Possessing several properties remains big business, although the market has improved. Before, individuals would probably buy new properties, repair them up and sell them in a income. Because of the collapse of the housing market and banking institutions, that is no longer the situation. However, everybody still must live someplace and much more and more people are now buying REO properties and using realty property management companies to let these properties out.

A property management group is capable of doing as much or even as little as you would like. For instance, minimally involvement they could have is advertising your properties and also getting a suitable renter, after that they leave everything back to you. The most participation they could have is that on top of the marketing and fining a renter, they?re also accountable for the repair of the property, as well as hire collection and also debt collection, when necessary.

Whatever in between there is possible too. It all depends on what you know about REO asset management and just how much you?re able to do by yourself. Typically, people with a single REO property will do just as much as they could by themselves, but when you?ve got multiple properties, there would not be enough time within the day. Thus, where people had been able to get rich by buying and selling properties, they now do this by hiring out numerous properties.

Realty property management costs will be different based on how much work you want to give with them. These are all issues that you?ll have to consult with the different companies. For instance, if they are as well involved in the maintenance and also fix of your properties, you have to be very clear who gets charged for this work. Once more, that is due to particular choice. You might choose to request them to charge you, particularly if you have transactions using a maintenance company on your own. However, you could also feature it in the contract you?ve got with them.

If you?re trying to find the best property management group, it is best to initially decide just how much or just how small you would like them to perform. After that, you need to request a number of quotations with details of just what the packages contain. This way, you will be able to best determine which firm will best have the ability to provide you with the assistance that you?re looking for.

(AP) ? The family and supporters of slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin found themselves on the defensive Monday following revelations he had been suspended for marijuana before he was shot to death by a neighborhood watch volunteer. Police also confirmed a report that the watchman claimed Martin was the aggressor, punching him in the nose and smacking his head on a sidewalk.

Martin, 17, was suspended by Miami-Dade County schools because traces of marijuana were found in a plastic baggie in his book bag, family spokesman Ryan Julison said. Martin was serving the suspension when he was shot Feb. 26 by George Zimmerman, who was patrolling the neighborhood that Martin was visiting with his father.

Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, and family attorneys blamed police for leaking the information about the marijuana and Zimmerman's claim about the attack to the news media in an effort to demonize the teenager.

"They killed my son and now they're trying to kill his reputation," Fulton told reporters.

The Sanford Police Department insisted there was no authorized release of the new information but acknowledged there may have been a leak. City Manager Norton Bonaparte Jr. said it would be investigated and the person responsible could be fired.

Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump said the link between the youth and marijuana should have no bearing on the probe into his shooting death. State and federal agencies are investigating, with a grand jury set to convene April 10.

"If he and his friends experimented with marijuana, that is completely irrelevant," Crump said. "What does it have to do with killing their son?"

The state Department of Juvenile Justice confirmed Monday that Martin does not have a juvenile offender record. The information came after a public records request by The Associated Press.

Zimmerman, 28, claimed he shot Martin in self-defense and has not been arrested. Because Martin was black and Zimmerman has a white father and Hispanic mother, the case has become a racial flashpoint that has civil rights leaders and others leading a series of protests in Sanford and around the country.

Meanwhile, the Orlando Sentinel reported that Zimmerman told police he lost Martin in the neighborhood he regularly patrolled and was walking back to his vehicle when the youth approached him from behind. The two exchanged words, Zimmerman said, and Martin then punched him in the nose, jumped on top of him and began banging his head on a sidewalk. Zimmerman said he began crying for help; Martin's family thinks it was their son who was crying out. Witness accounts differ and 911 tapes in which the voices are heard are not clear.

The Sanford police statement said the newspaper story was "consistent" with evidence turned over to prosecutors.

Earlier, city officials named a 23-year veteran of the Sanford police department as acting chief. The appointment of Capt. Darren Scott, who is African-American, came days after Chief Bill Lee, who is white, temporarily stepped down as the agency endured withering criticism over its handling of the case.

"I know each one of you ? and everyone watching ? would like to have a quick, positive resolution to this recent event," Scott told reporters. "However, I must say we have a system in place, a legal system. It may not be perfect but it's the only one we have. I urge everyone to let the system take its course."

The Sanford City Commission held its first meeting Monday since giving Lee a no confidence vote, which led to his ouster. Martin's parents both addressed the panel, urging them to take steps to arrest Zimmerman. More than 500 people crowded into the meeting, which was moved from City Hall to the Sanford Civil Center.

"We are asking for justice," said Tracy Martin, the teenager's father.

Civil rights leader Al Sharpton warned commissioners that Sanford risked becoming a 21st century version of the civil rights struggle in the South during the 1960s.

Sharpton said Martin's parents endured "insults and lies" Monday over reports that their son attacked Zimmerman.

Outside the commission meeting, several thousand people carried signs, rallied and marched in Martin's support. Organizers said some 2 million signatures had been collected on an online petition demanding Zimmerman's arrest.

"It seems like the police did not do the normal things they should have done. But that's going to have to take its own process now," said the Rev. Marilyn Beecher, a Methodist minister who came from Daytona Beach to attend the rally. "It's important that we all stand for justice and that the community leaders know that this is not going to be overlooked."

Martin's family spoke at the rally attended by at least a thousand people.

Tracy Martin called the crowd his "backbone."

"As I see the crowd here, I see Trayvon all over," Tracy Martin said. "I know he is saying to me, 'Dad, I'm proud.'"

Also Monday, an attorney for Martin's mother confirmed that she filed trademark applications for two slogans containing her son's name: "Justice for Trayvon" and "I Am Trayvon." The applications said the trademarks could be used for such things as DVDs and CDs.

The trademark attorney, Kimra Major-Morris, said in an email that Fulton wants to protect intellectual property rights for "projects that will assist other families who experience similar tragedies."

Asked if Fulton had any profit motive, the attorney replied: "None."

Justin Bieber Takes A 'Leap' With 'Boyfriend'

'He's an incredible, incredible writer and amazing vocalist,' producer Mike Posner tells MTV News about Bieber's new single.

Justin Bieber dropped his bumping new single "Boyfriend" on Monday (March 26), teasing his next album, Believe. It's a grinding, midtempo song that hears Bieber proclaiming all the ways he can make a girl happy (swag and fondue included!).

Co-produced and co-written by "Cooler Than Me" singer Mike Posner, the song shows growth from Bieber's "Baby" days. When MTV News caught up with Posner last week, he told us what it was like to hit the studio with Bieber (and co-producer and co-writer Mason Levy) for the track.

"I've known [Bieber's manager] Scooter [Braun] for a few years, so I actually ran into Scooter at a Clippers game and told him I would love to work with Justin," Posner said. "I got the opportunity to write with Justin. I didn't really know what to expect at first, but he's an incredible, incredible writer and amazing vocalist.

"Because I'm an artist myself, I can be pretty selective on who I produce for and who I make beats for ... and really what I'm looking for is an amazing vocalist, somebody that can sing better than I can," he continued. "And the other thing is somebody that's willing to not try to make something that succeeds within the matrix of what pop music is now, but makes something that moves that matrix to where it is, and Justin was willing to take that leap with me."

Bieber spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show hours after the song's world premiere Monday, explaining why this was the perfect track to kick off the Believe era.

"It was a really hard choice. I mean, we had so many songs, so many uptempos we could release, [that] I thought, 'Let's slow it down,' " he said, adding that there are already plenty of fast songs all over the radio. "It's just something a little bit more mature, but it's also something I think I'm ready for."

While fans and industry insiders had been wondering what a more grown-up Bieber would sound like, he said he tried to block out all the noise when making the track. "There's so many people that are going to give me opinions, but I'm the only one who can ultimately make those decisions, because I'm going to have to live with my career for the rest of my life. So I thought this was the perfect single," he said, adding that this song "was me all the way; it is a representation of me."

And Bieber said "Boyfriend" perfectly sets up what's coming next. "It's kind of classic," he said of the album. "The songs, I feel, won't get old. The music is very fresh, but it's also — I'm taking a lot from old-school music, a lot of Michael Jackson, a lot of old R&B, a lot of old pop. It's pretty special."

U.S. World Bank pick to win broad support: Geithner

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Jim Yong Kim, the U.S. nominee to lead the World Bank, will win broad international support despite an unprecedented challenge by candidates from emerging economies, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said in an interview.

Washington's hold on the World Bank presidency is being contested for the first time by candidates from emerging economies. Two respected economists and diplomats, Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and former Colombian finance minister Jose Antonio Ocampo, have been nominated.

Kim, a Korean-American health expert, is well known among development experts for his work in fighting HIV/AIDS and bringing healthcare to the poor. President Barack Obama nominated him for World Bank president on Friday.

"The president was looking for a candidate who could command broad support across the world," Geithner told Reuters in an interview released on Saturday. "That's very important, because we don't make this decision alone."

"Dr. Kim's mix of skills will be particularly compelling to the bank at this time and I think the world will be very impressed with him," he said.

Emerging economies such as China, India, South Africa, Brazil and Russia have sought to use their growing economic clout to pry open the selection process for the heads of the World Bank and its sister organization, the International Monetary Fund.

The World Bank has always been headed by an American and the IMF by a European since their inception after World War Two.

Geithner said it was not a surprise that candidates from other countries had been nominated after a 2009 agreement by leaders of the Group of 20 nations for an open and transparent process to select leaders of the two institutions.

"We expected that to happen and think it is healthy for the institution as a whole," Geithner said. "But I can tell you from my conversations with developing and developed countries, I am confident he (Kim) will win broad support."

U.S. officials have acknowledged that giving up the World Bank presidency would make it difficult for the White House to obtain funding from Congress for the global lender, especially with lawmakers worried about mounting budget deficits.

The United States has also argued that it does not head any other global organization.

RECOMMENDED BY CLINTONS

After a broad search that looked at U.S. bankers, economists and politicians, Obama settled on Kim because the Dartmouth College president has a deep commitment to development issues, Geithner said. In particular, he cited Kim's experience in programs to fight HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in impoverished nations, which he said demonstrated that the nominee could get things done in tough environments.

In coming weeks, Kim will visit nations in Africa, Asia and Latin America to try to convince them he is the best candidate to lead the poverty-fighting institution, U.S. officials said.

Kim was recommended to Obama by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, officials said. Kim and his long-time collaborator Paul Farmer worked with former President Clinton on reconstruction efforts in Haiti following a devastating earthquake in 2010.

The White House has acknowledged it considered candidates tied more closely to Washington political circles, including U.S. Senator John Kerry, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice and former White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers.

"The president wanted somebody who had defined their life through a commitment to the cause of development but had also demonstrated an ability to solve complex problems in a creative way," said Geithner, a Dartmouth alumnus who played a lead role in the search for a successor for outgoing World Bank President Robert Zoellick.

Kim's development successes involving HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and the provision of inexpensive medicine to the poor have received wide praise. However, some development experts say he lacks the economic credentials and diplomatic skills of rival nominees Okonjo-Iweala and Ocampo.

While the World Bank's mission remains focused on eradicating poverty, the rise of some once poorer clients such as China and India have forced it to also focus on impediments to development in emerging economies, including power supply and governance issues.

Okonjo-Iweala and Ocampo would bring more expertise in these areas, some development economists say. A senior Obama administration official said the bank has ample expertise and what is needed at the top is someone who can get things done.

The World Bank is involved in the design of health systems in developing countries, but its funding and influence in the area has been eclipsed by groups such as the Geneva-based Global Fund and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Geithner said Kim has "an incredible feel for what matters most in development and recognizes that for economies to grow they have to invest in expanding opportunities for their people, in healthcare and in education."

"Those are lessons that the most successful emerging and developing countries have learned and been forced to learn, and in that sense he has the ideal feel," Geithner added. "His experience comes from what he has done in the field, not just from his academic research."

People who had worked with Kim were impressed by his ability to handle complicated situations in tough environments such as Haiti, Geithner said. In Haiti, Kim was credited with persuading the government to take steps to avoid an outbreak of tuberculosis.

SR & ED Tax Credit Financing ? The Only Two Things You Need to ...

SR & ED Tax Credit Financing is somewhat misunderstood, or in fact not really Considered by many Canadian business owners and financial managers in Canada. We use the word ?Considered? simply because many are not aware SRED claimants that their claims can be SR & ED financing as soon as they are filed ? in some cases prior to filing

So let?s return to our! topic ? what are the two things you need to know about financing your SRED tax credit. We?ll keep it simple ?

first

You have to have a SR & ED claim to obtain financing for the claim

2 A financing SRED claim is in fact similar to any business financing application ? frankly it?s quite simple and more focused

Is that it? Yes, it?s as simple as that. SR & ED tax credit financing is one of the most unique ways to bring valuable cash flow and working capital back into your firm. . Just the very nature of SRED itself suggests that your firm Relies heavily on the credit to recover the capital you have spent under the government?s quite generous non repayable grant

So let?s return to our point # 1 ? to finance a claim, you need a claim. The SRED program in Canada is the rebate governments, in effect it?s a grant, back to Canadian business for any investment you make in research and development. More and more information is coming out everyday from government and private sources suggest that many firms Which who are eligible for the program either are not aware of it, or even more disappointing, do not know how to go about preparing and filing a claim . We are often amazed when some clients infer that it?s ?too much trouble? to prepare a SRED claim.

A couple of points

subject can be made on this. We have met a small handful, and we repeat small handful! Of clients over the years who prepare their own filings. This of course is possible, legal, and business owners in some minds? cost effective. The hard reality is that most firms do not have the technical and financial know-how to complete a claim on their own. (Apologies to the Which firms successfully prepare their own claims a file ? you know who you are!)

The Majority of SRED claims in the area are prepared by what is known as SRED consultants. We tell clients that these consultants are specialized high, are up to date on current government SRED and accounting matters, and in most cases work on contingency ? meaning that they prepare the claim at their own risk and time, and charge a fee Which is totally Based on success of the final claim approval. If Canadian business owners and financial managers do not choose to pay a contingency fee then they can play a flat rate based on the SRED consultant?s time on the claim and filing. Naturally more often than not the fee has to be paid SRED as soon as the claim is completed, even if you have to wait several quiet months to a year to get your funds. More importantly, as It Relates to the financing of the SRED claim, a claim Tends to be more viable when finance it is prepared by a reputable consultant in this area. And in fact when you claim is financed, either at time of filing or priority, the SRED consultant can then be paid in full or in part out of the financing. So the bottom line on our point # 1 is simply ? make yourself aware of the program if you are not, prepare a solid claim with the use of a reputable consultant, and be knowledgeable that the claim can be financed during preparation or at time of filing

. Let?s move on to point # 2 ? Clients ask, is it really that simple to finance a SR & ED tax credit. There is only one answer, Which is of course yes. You should treat your SRED tax credit financing just as any other basic financing. Because this area of ??Canadian business financing is somewhat of a boutique are you should Ensure you are working with a credible, trusted, and experienced advisor in this area.

Let?s cover some of the very simple basics around the key financing of your claim. Most firms are eligible, under the program itself, to receive anywhere from 20-50% of your expenses in the R & D area. Your SRED claim will ultimately have a final value, Which is made up of the federal and provincial portions combined. Let?s assume its 200,000.00 as an example. You and your accountant have filed your year end financials, and included a SRED claim of 200k. What happens now if you want to finance that claim. The reality is that you simply have to fill out a standard business financing application ? just as if you were borrowing for any other matter. In our case the ?collateral?, if we can call it that, it?s the SRED claim

Important to note hear that you are not incurring debt or creating a ?loan? on the SRED -. Your balance sheet stays intact, you are simply ?monetizing? the SRED claim in order to generate working capital and cash flow now. Generally you receive approximately 70% of the claim as an advance, with the 30% held back to yourself and payable in full when you final claim is audited, approved, and that from the government is Cheque ?in the mail?! The financing feels itself, associated with the tax credit financing are deducted from that final 30% holdback. You can create a generic rally SRED loan for a period of a minimum of 60 days, but most SRED financing generate load rally from 3-12 months, Depending on the size of your claim, its eligibility with CRA, and Whether you are a first time filer .

So what?s our bottom line ? it could not be simpler:

? Make yourself aware of this great program ? prepare a proper claim with someone who is experienced
- If you are focused on cash flow and working capital financing needs consider your claim and directly monetizing this great program

Restaurant Industry Shows More Signs of Recovery | tsrmag.com ...

Notably, the U.S. Census Bureau?s retail sales estimates for February show restaurant sales hitting a new record high for the tenth consecutive month, the National Restaurant Association pointed out.

The ?food services and drinking places? category recorded total sales of $43.4 billion for the month (adjusted for seasonal factors and trading days). That was up less than 1% versus January 2012, but up 8.2% versus adjusted February 2011 sales for the industry.

Furthermore, for the 12 months through January 2012, sales at full-service restaurants were 8.7% higher than in the previous 12 months ?- the fastest growth pace since the late 1990s, when the economy was booming, reported The New York Times.

The sales gains at full-service restaurants -? which range from moderately priced fast-casual chains to top-end establishments -? also considerably outpaced those of limited-service restaurants or QSRs, which survived the worst of the recession far better than their sit-down counterparts, as consumers elected to trade down for their less-numerous eating-out occasions.

Moreover, over the past 20 years, stronger growth in full-service restaurant sales and slowing of growth in limited-service sales have generally coincided with growth in gross domestic product/economic improvement, Times economic writer Floyd Norris pointed out (although he also noted that current economic indicators show that the economy is growing more slowly than the full-service/limited-service restaurants trend indicator, which may in part be a factor of the different timing of reporting for these numbers.) ?

The data show Americans now spending about $220 billion per year in full-service restaurants, $211 billion in limited-service restaurants, and $21 billion in bars.

While Americans are coping with significantly higher gas prices (those jumped 6% in February), grocery prices were flat for the first time since July 2010, and wholesale food prices edged down 0.3% (following declines of 0.5% and 0.7% in December 2011 and January 2012).

Perhaps in part reflecting less inflationary pressure on restaurants? costs, menu prices posted their smallest monthly gain in more than a year in February (0.1%), down from 0.4%? in January. While restaurant operators of course seek to improve their margins by raising prices and/or check size wherever feasible, stable or moderately higher restaurant costs may also be encouraging the trend to dine out more frequently.

In addition, the National Restaurant Association?s industry tracking data continue to show optimistic trends.

In January, its overall industry health index, the Restaurant Performance Index (RPI) stood at 101.3. While that was down from December?s strong level of 102.2, January marked the third consecutive month that the RPI stood above 100, which signifies expansion based on various key industry indicators.

?Restaurant operators reported positive same-store sales for the eighth consecutive month and a majority of them expect business to continue to improve in the months ahead,? reported Hudson Riehle, SVP of the association?s Research and Knowledge Group.

In addition, Packaged Facts recently estimated that U.S. restaurant sales will grow 4.2% in 2012, on top of 6.1% growth in 2011. The research firm also estimated 8.1% growth in full-service restaurant sales last year, including a slight rebound in fine dining (although it added that the return to 2007 spending levels remains a ?very steep curve.?)

Mintel, too, recently reported positive indicators based on its consumer tracking. Fully 65% of respondents who had visited a restaurant in the past month indicated that they will spend the same amount at restaurants in 2012 and 12% plan to spend more this year. Among that 12%, 59% said they will spend more in casual restaurants, and 57% said they will spend more in family restaurants.

Of course, along with the economy, the restaurant industry is not out of the woods just yet. As Packaged Facts noted, U.S. households with incomes of $100,000 or more account for more than a third of restaurant spending, although they comprise just 17% of total households. And while the numbers of higher-income and lower-income households has grown since 2007, the number of middle-income households has declined.

?Because restaurant spending correlates to household income, the crimping of the middle class is a major hurdle for the industry, as it is of course for the national economy overall,? noted Packaged Facts? analysts, in its ?Foodservice Landscape in the U.S.? report.

Also, while total sales for U.S. full-service restaurants grew considerably last year, many went out of business. The number of these restaurants declined by 12,000 operators, or 3.8%, according to CHD Expert, a foodservice research provider. Limited-service restaurants saw fewer closures: down by 4,000, or 1.3%.

However, fast-casual chains offering ?fresh, diverse? menus continued to thrive. In addition, ?American traditional? and? ?American regional? menu types increased by more than 7.5%, and Asian restaurants, and bars and grills increased by more than 2%, CHD reported.

Trickett grabs relay berth at London Games

Three-time Olympic champion Libby Trickett squeezed into Australia's sprint relay team at the London Games with a fifth place finish in Tuesday's 100-metre freestyle final at the trials.

Trickett, 27, teary-eyed and her lip quivering with emotion, savoured the achievement of reaching her third Olympics after making a comeback from 18 months out of the sport.

"I'm so over the moon that I have the opportunity to represent my country at my third Olympic Games," Trickett said.

"It's unbelievable and I'll probably start crying at some point because this whole journey for me has been probably more challenging, emotionally, spiritually and mentally than it has been physically.

"I just knew how fast the girls were going to be tonight and it was going to take a lot. I was two-hundredths of a second slower than last night and that meant I still got away with the fifth placing."

Melanie Schlanger (53.85) and Cate Campbell (54.01) will swim in the 100m freestyle for Australia in London after their top-two finish, while Trickett needed to finish in the top-six to gain a start in the 100m relay.

Trickett swam 54.21, inside the Olympic qualifying time and enough to get her to London. She finished with the silver medal in the event at the 2008 Beijing Games.

In the men's competition James Magnussen shaded Eamon Sullivan by one-hundredth of a second to be the fastest qualifier into Wednesday's 50m freestyle final.

World champion Magnussen, 20, who missed the 100m freestyle world record by 0.19secs in winning Monday's final, clocked a personal best 21.87secs to Sullivan's 21.88.

In two swims in the 50m at the trials Magnussen has carved a massive 0.54secs off his best one-lap time.

"I saw Eamon get the 21.8 before our semi and I thought 'I don't know if I can match that' but I am still on a high from last night and it's coming pretty easy at the moment," Magnussen said.

"I'm going to back myself to get the job done, rest up for tomorrow and it will be great to go quicker than that again."

Sullivan, who broke the 100m world record in the semi-finals at the Beijing Olympics, was surprised with his time which almost pipped the red-hot Magnussen.

"I've been floating around the mid-22secs for a lot of the year in heavy training, so I was expecting to drop down quite a bit," Sullivan said.

"It helps the have the pressure off to make the Olympic team... and now I can relax a bit more and focus on my minor skills that can make a difference."

Others to qualify for London in Tuesday's finals were Daniel Tranter (1:58.19) and Jayden Hayden in the 200m individual medley, Mitch Larkin (1:57.90) and Matson Lawson in the 200m backstroke.

Tessa Wallace (2:26.31) and Sally Foster will swim in the 200m breaststroke at the Olympics with former world record holder Leisel Jones fourth.

Former world champion Michael Klim missed his last chance to qualify for London with the 14th fastest time in the 100m butterfly semi-finals and announced it was his swansong race.

Klim, 34, on the comeback trail after four years out of the pool, could not go the pace with his younger rivals and finished in 53.72 behind fastest qualifier Chris Wright (51.83) into Wednesday's final.

But another 'golden oldie' two-time Olympic medallist Geoff Huegill, 33, will compete in the final after the fifth fastest time of 52.57 in the first semi.

Sign me up for the Kumogakure Team, since I self proclaimed myself a strategist for the Raikage... lol
I will not be taking the lead of that team, HELL NAH. I'm like that guy, that stands there all lazily, giving reccomendations for attacks and stuff... occasionally stepping in. so yea. :D

EDIT: ACTUALLY. I'm gonna be what Darui was for the Fourth Raikage. His right hand man!!! :D My only issue is my lack of official training! XD

Sincerely,

The G, Gilbert Ignatio Leonhardt ^-^

@GothBabeAlex - Do you want me to sign Rin up for the Kiri team?
@Final - I'll post the Mizukage in her office in a bit if you plan on looking for her to make you a team, I have to quickly read through my textbook. Or you could go to Rin in the Kirigakure thread and RP with her there if you want. :P

@Valium- Yes I think it would make sense for her to be placed on a team, everyone needs a medical-nin

All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances... Some are just much better than others.
